Two of Anaconda’s student-athletes from last week in cross country and football earned the nod for this edition of the Copperhead Athletes of the Week presented by Dee Motors, Community Hospital of Anaconda, Skyline Sports, Crawshaw Family McDonalds, Washoe Theatre, Zo Photo and Copperhead Country.

Jayda Cornelius, a senior on the Copperhead cross country team, earned a Top-10 finish last week at the Butte Central Invitational meet held at Fairmont golf course. Cornelius finished sixth with a time of 24:36, a season-best time for the senior.

Ryder Anderson, a junior quarterback and safety for the ‘Heads football squad, put up video game-like numbers last Friday in a 38-6 win over Loyola. Anderson completed 19-of-29 passes for 329 yards and five touchdown passes. He scored on a 4-yard TD run as well, combining for 350 total yards from scrimmage.

On top of the offensive production, Anderson also intercepted a pass which he returned 33 yards and added 118 yards on special teams. His five TD passes tied him for second all-time in Anaconda history with Braxton Hill (2016) and Travis Dye (2025).

All season long, each winner of the AOTW will receive movie tickets to Washoe Theatre, a $10 gift card to McDonald’s and at the end of each season will be entered for a chance to win a $250 Athletes Pass from Shine PT+Wellness.
