FAIRMONT – Copperhead sophomore Gage Novak continued his winning ways, taking home medalist honors for the second-straight meet Tuesday at the Butte Central Invitational on the Fairmont Resort golf course.

Novak ran a personal-best 18:17 to win by almost 40 seconds, pacing the Copperheads to a second-place team finish behind Class A Ronan.
Four Copperheads slid into the Top-15 with Austin Schellenberg in eighth place, Brett Dahood in 13th and Wyatt Jense in 14th. Schellenberg and Jense also recorded personal best times.
The Copperhead girls were led by Jayda Cornelius’ sixth-place finish at 24:36, finishing third as a team. Grace Mehrens, Elizabeth Krakowka and Sadie Schultz finished 13th through 15th, respectively.

The Copperheads have a week off before heading to the Mountain West Invitational, one of the largest multi-class and state cross country event in the northwest. The event is held on the University of Montana golf course Saturday, Sept. 19.
