Boulder outlasts ‘Heads 48-21 in Tuesday dual

Boulder earned four forfeit victories and added another four pins en route to a 48-21 dual win over Anaconda Tuesday night at Memorial Gymnasium.
The night began with the match of the night, seeing 103-pound Leo Anderson come from behind freshman Nathan Blodnick in regulation and catch the Copperhead midway through overtime for the pin.

Blodnick led 2-0 after an early takedown in the first period, and both were basically stalemate from that point forward. Two escapes — one in the second and third periods — for Anderson ended regulation at 2-2.

Anaconda’s Christian Miller then earned an 8-4 victory over Dominick Davis at 113 followed by a Tommy Sawyer forfeit win at 126 to give Anaconda an early 9-6 lead in the dual. It was all Boulder from that point forward.

Jace Orheart and Johnson Armstrong earned back to back pins for the Panthers at 132 and 138, respectively, then a forfeit at 160 and Tolon DeMers 15-second pin of Carter Samson at 170. Boulder also won forfeits for 182, 205 and heavyweight.

Anaconda cut back into the lead with third period pins at 145 by senior captain Dan Byrne and freshman 152-pounder Ethan Goldberg. Byrne stuck Eli Reed at the 4:35 mark while Goldberg finished Mike Dodge in 4:30.

Freshman Tommy Sawyer earned an exhibition win over Jace Orheart wrestling up to 132, pinning his opponent in 5:03. Justin Jette earned a pin over Gracie Olds in 1:43 at 138 and Goldberg recorded the quick-pin of the night with a :07 second win over Joe Riehl at 152.

The evening served as Senior Parents Night when only one wrestler, Dan Byrne, was celebrated.

Anaconda will be back for the last dual of the season Friday when the host Townsend at 6 p.m.
