MISSOULA — The Mountain West cross country meet is one of the preeminent events in the entire Northwest, featuring 59 boys and 55 girls high school teams from Montana, Idaho and Washington.
For the boys, 461 runners took on the University of Montana Golf Course track with the Copperheads finishing in 53rd place. Sophomore Gage Novak crossed the line first for Anaconda, finishing with a personal best time of . Wyatt Jense and Madden Zeren also recorded personal bests while Brett Dahood and Avery Wayland had season best times.
For the girls, 421 participants competed. Grace Mehrens paced the Copperheads with a season-best time of 26:31. Biz Krakowka and Grace Richter clocked personal best times along side season-best finishes by Sadie Schultz and Averie Schelin.
Fred Moodry Middle School also clocked times in the event on both the boys and girls side. Those results are pictured below.
