ANACONDA — The youngest starting lineup to date produced impressive results on Tuesday night.

Anaconda started two eighth graders and a freshman, and the results were a straight-sets 25-17, 25-19, 25-22 sweep over Loyola for the teams Pink Game.

Eighth grader Reagan Schellenberg made the most of her first start at outside hitter, coupled with classmate Maizee Mitchell and freshman setter Brigid Mehrens. The trio collected 13 of the teams 39 kills led by Mehrens’ five.

Logan McKay once again paced the offense, killing 13 points along with a match-high five aces. Addison Jovanovich dominated the middle, adding seven kills and a block while setter and right-side hitter Addie Olson – coming off an illness that forced her out of Saturday’s Blocktober Tournament in Butte – added six kills.

The Copperheads managed 12 aces, libero Addi Case had three, Addie Olson and twin sister Jori Olson had two and one, respectively, and Mehrens had one as well.

Loyola was led by Sophia Berry’s nine kills and setter Mia Johnson’s four aces.

Anaconda is on the road Thursday for a conference match against Florence. That match can be heard live on copperheadcountry.org.
