Copperhead girls thump Corvallis on the road, start season 1-0

For the first time in two seasons, Anaconda is coming home with a win against former Southwestern A rival Corvallis.

Led by three in double-figures including senior Megan Reich with 15, junior Sami Johnson with 12 and senior Mia Sullivan-Sanders with 10, Anaconda knocked off the Lady Blue Devils 50-34 for the season-opening win.

Off the bench, freshmen Makena Patrick and Maniyah Lunceford added seven and four, points respectively, in their first varsity action. Junior Alyssa Peterson had a field goal to cap the scoring for the Copperheads.

Corvallis was led by Madi Gilder’s 12 and Kaitlyn Benner with nine.

Anaconda’s Friday night tilt against Deer Lodge has been cancelled due to COVID in the Wardens program. Their next game will be Saturday, now at home, in a boys’-girls’ doubleheader at Memorial Gymnasium. Both games will be covered live on copperheadcountry.org
